Reshaping Bitcoin EcoMining in Africa

The GreeNodes initiative was designed by Kisiba, a development partner for emerging economies, based in Mali, and committed to support and contribute to sustainable development in west africa.

The GreeNodes farm is set to become the very first  “AgriVoltaic Bitcoin eco-mining farm” to be established in West Africa, leveraging the massive availability of fertile lands and the abundance of sunlight in the countries such as Mali or IvoryCoast.

The Eco Mining facility is to be mainly powered using renewable energy produced by solar panels and stored in lithium batteries. The extensive land used to host the solar farm, will be leveraged for local agricultural projects, for crops such as Lettuce, spinach, kale (Leafy greens), Radishes, carrots (Root vegetables) or Beans, peas, lentils (Legumes) which are known to be tolerant of shade and low light.

By combining solar energy production with food production, the agrivoltaic mining farm can help to address the challenges of climate change, food security, all the while providing energy for bitcoin mining which will help with job creation, boosting both local and national economy.

The total investment for the project is estimated to be $10 million and should be raised through a combination of equity and debt financing. The project is expected to generate over $4 million in annual revenue and to become profitable within 27 months.
